Norwich Soca Seniors held a charity walking football tournament on 19 July 2026, in support of the British Heart Foundation and Age UK Norwich, bringing together fundraising, awareness, and community action around heart health and later-life wellbeing. They also invited PocDoc, an innovative diagnostic company, to provide free Heart Health Checks, adding a practical screening element to the event and reinforcing healthy lifestyle and exercise.

The British Heart Foundation is the UK’s leading independent funder of research into heart and circulatory disease, while Age UK Norwich supports older people in Norwich and the wider area with advice, wellbeing, and practical services.

Norwich Soca Seniors is a local walking football club, with 160 members, held their now annual Charity Tournament on Sunday, with 33 teams taking part across 3 age groups, the over 50’s, 60’s & 70’s.

Norwich Soca Seniors play their football at the FDC in Bowthorpe, with 3 club sessions per week, with one set aside for intermediate players.

The club has supported many charities since they started hosting Charity tournaments, raising some £30,000 for their selected good causes.

Sunday saw 33 teams from across the South-East making it they believe the biggest one-day walking football tournament in the Country with more than 250 players taking part. Two teams travelling from Malta, the triple X’s.

One of the usually unique elements are the referees, all but one, club referees, trained through the clubs development programme with several now qualified to referee at the highest level in the walking football game.

As with all tournaments, there are winners, the two biggest being our selected charities, but also Norwich Soca Seniors edging Norwich City CSF in the over 50’s final, Boston beating Norwich Soca Seniors 65’s in the over 60’s and Norwich Soca Seniors winning against Sleaford.

It was another excellent day.
